New Year’s Revolution

December 31, 2007

I think it’s about time to make a New Year’s Revolution. No, that’s not a typo. I’m talking about revolution, NOT resolution.

Resolution is for people who can’t make any drastic changes in their lives. Resolution is for people who can only commit in short-term behaviors.

In revolution, you don’t make promises you can’t keep. In revolution, you don’t make your mouth bigger and charm the others with your lips.

Resolution is… “I will change into a better person.”
Revolution is… “I must change into a better person.”

I’ve seen and heard too many people who made resolutions, but failed miserably. Smoking, gambling… you name it.

In 2008, you must change into someone better.
You don’t brag in the last minute of 2007.
You just changed.

Happy new year.

Queen Elizabeth II on YouTube!

December 24, 2007

I think this is the first time for the Queen to broadcast her Christmas message on YouTube, but I’m sure she already used YouTube and Skype quite often to chat with her beloved son; Charles.

The Christmas Broadcast or ‘Queen’s Speech’ for 2007 will appear on this channel at approximately 3pm GMT on Christmas Day.

Kindle, Kindle, Kindle…

December 18, 2007

Jeff Bezos loves to read books –that much is clear. The founder of Amazon.com, an online bookseller that now flogs everything from gourmet food to power tools, Bezos is such a voracious reader that he even claims to have finished Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s “The Black Swan,” perhaps the most-bought least-completed book since Stephen Hawking’s “A Brief History of Time.”

His wife is a novelist. And he is busily indoctrinating his children, too, not just in the habit of reading but in his other passion, Star Trek: He gives them novels about the adventures of the Starship Enterprise.

In so doing, he claims to be boldly going where no man has gone before: The Bezos offspring read these books not on paper, but on Amazon’s new electronic-book reader, the Kindle.

Robbers Return Christmas Goods!

December 18, 2007

The Grinch who stole Christmas may have had a change of heart, unexpectedly returning Christmas goods stolen from the house of a New Zealand family, police said Tuesday.

Stereo and DVD equipment, antiques and kitchen appliances were taken during a burglary late Saturday night at a property at Bannockburn, near the town of Cromwell on South Island.

Most of the $15,100 worth of goods were returned several hours later, wrapped in a sheet and left on the roadside outside the house.

The burglars returned again Monday to drop off two remote controls, which they left in the mailbox.

Unfortunately…

P.S. Mr. Niflhaim, please update us when your book is ready for purchase at the Amazon, okay? :)

Amazon Spent £2 Million For Me?

December 15, 2007

Amazing.

Amazon is just amazing.

They spent a decent £2 million (UK Pound) to bought J.K. Rowling’s “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” in Sotheby’s auction, London. Not a bad number for one, tiny book.

But the auction WAS for charity, so I guess it wouldn’t matter much for Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com. Besides, the company already made a heck of lot more from Harry Potter’s universal fans (including me).

Did Amazon buy the book for Harry Potter’s fans? Or for a mere investment after Rowling decided to end Harry’s tale?

Either way, there goes my new book… drowned and sinked by the Bard even before it reach the Amazon.

P.S. To Aunt Gail: Yes, we need a huge cyber party here on the net! Even though I’m not sure it’s going to make any difference to our book sales… hahaha. :(

What A Rough Days…

September 6, 2007

Phew…

We’re almost done with our stories here. Mrs. Bunny and I have completed enough chapters to this day. Of course, we’re not satisfied yet. There will be more polishing and editing in the coming weeks.

Hopefully, everything will work out smoothly.

No Christmas Tree?

August 14, 2007

Dear Niflhaim (and everyone),

In the picture the tree represents the end of the earth, but I’ll take it out if you don’t like it. If there is no tree, we will see the rest of the roller coaster coming up from below with toys etc.

I sort of like the idea of the tree being the edge of the earth — creative license, as this is a story, we can make anything be the way we want it to be!

It reminds me of when I was a little kids… I couldn’t own a real pony, but I could draw one, or for that matter, I could draw anything I wanted!

Silly, I know…. but it worked for me! :)

I Love Your Sketch!

August 14, 2007

I love your sketch, Lady Valerie! By the way, can you add more presents in the back of the coaster? :)

Amazing Sketch, Valerie.

August 12, 2007

That’s pretty amazing, Valerie. I love it. By the way, is that a tree? A Christmas tree grow outside of the Earth? Are you sure, Valerie?

Here’s The Final Sketch For The Book Cover!

August 10, 2007

Hi Niflhaim,

Here’s the final sketch (layout) for the book cover! The illustration concept is Joshua and Santa Claus riding a roller coaster, heading to outer space.

Have a look, everyone…

What do you think, Niflhaim? And Mrs. Gail, do you like my drawing? I need your opinions before I pour full color on the illustration. Just let me know what you have in mind, okay?

No, Not Mrs. Claus.

August 8, 2007

Mrs. Claus? Good thinking, Surt… but no, not her. Definitely not Mrs. Claus. It was someone else. Or something else. I don’t know.

Niflhaim,

Probably Mrs. Claus?

August 7, 2007

It was probably Mrs. Claus that you’ve been searching for, Sir Niflhaim. Mrs. Claus was missing in the movie, right?

I Just Watched “The Polar Express”

August 5, 2007

I just watched “The Polar Express” movie on DVD yesterday. Three times, actually. Hundreds of times if you allow me to count years back since its release on 2004 or something. Bored to watch the same movie over and over again? Not this one. Not me. I’m one of those… what do you call them? (Weirdos?) I don’t care.

God, I love that movie. But of course, the book was so much better because we could fantasize as wild as we want according to our imaginations.

Chris Van Allsburg was indeed one of my role authors. Whenever I read the book, I go speechless. The message he sent to us was powerful. Robert Zemeckis, the director, was also gave his splendid fantasy touch on the big screen. The voice of Tom Hanks was unambiguous and precise, as I expected.

Probably one of the greatest tales to be told from one generation to another, as family traditions on Christmas Eve, or any other holidays. Lots of magics for children who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus. Just like me.

To be honest, there was also a good reason why I kept watching the movie. I always felt like something was missing. I don’t know what was it, but there was definitely something missing. I just kept looking, and looking, and looking… still no answer.

Niflhaim,
Author.

I Will Color It Now!

August 2, 2007

Okay, Niflhaim, glad you like it! Now, I’m going to color the sketch. You’re going to love the end result! Stay tuned.
